The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) extends its greetings of friendship and prosperity to the Republic of Fiji in celebrating its 55th National Day on October 10, 2025. We honor Fiji’s progress and regional cooperation through technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Happy Independence Day! May the spirit of independence inspire greater achievements for the nation of Fiji and its people.

Celebrations

A series of activities have been organized across Fiji in celebration of the nation’s 55th Independence Anniversary, reflecting this year’s theme, “Peace, Unity & Progress for All.”

As part of this year’s celebrations, the Fiji Government invites everyone to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at Albert Park in Suva, Fiji from October 6 to 10. Visitors can explore a rich array of locally made handicrafts, clothing, jewelry, food, and cultural products, which reflect the creativity and craftsmanship of Fijian entrepreneurs.

In nurturing nature, Fiji also launched a Mangrove Planting Campaign at the Suva Yacht Club, where 7,500 mangrove seedlings were planted along coastal areas. This highlights Fiji’s commitment to environmental conservation and climate resilience in line with the “30 Million Trees in 15 Years” campaign.

Hon. Alitia Bainivalu, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, emphasized that mangroves are vital to the nation’s Blue Economy, serving as natural storm barriers, carbon sinks, and marine life habitats. The campaign represents the Fiji Day 2025 theme—a collective effort for peace, unity, and sustainable development.

Organized by the National Archives of Fiji, another event marked the celebrations through an exhibition titled “Fiji’s Journey Over 55 Years.” The exhibit features historical documents such as the Deed of Cession Agreement and Independence Instrument as a glimpse into Fiji’s political, social, and cultural evolution.

“These records remind us of how far we have come as a people, and how the values of unity, resilience, and peace have guided our progress,” shared Hon. Lynda Tabuya, Minister for Information.
