The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) warmly welcomed the distinguished delegation from the Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST), Malaysia during their one-day institutional visit to the Staff College on August 27, 2025.

The delegation was spearheaded by Mdme. Zuleah binti Darsong, Director General, Department of Skill Development, Malaysia along with the senior officials and experts from CIAST. They were cordially received by Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, Director General, CPSC together with the Staff College’s division officers.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Dhameja apprised the party of the history and mission of CPSC as well as the function and capabilities of its divisions. He also showcased CPSC’s current endeavors in the field of TVET training, research and development, program & consultancy, and quality assurance, among others.

The CPSC and CIAST Teams both engage in an interactive and dynamic discourse about the avenues of collaboration and opportunities for the development of TVET in the Asia-Pacific region

Speaking on behalf of the visiting party, Mdme. Zuleah commended CPSC’s hospitality and hearty reception. She also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Malaysia and CPSC which was evident with their joint collaboration with the Staff College over the years. Moreover, Mdme. Zuleah explicitly conveyed their strong interest in pursuing more avenues for cooperation specifically between CPSC and CIAST in terms of uplifting the quality of TVET in the region.

The focal point of the program was the briefing that was conducted by the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) Officer Ms. Julifer Madeja on the improved accreditation process and the upcoming launch of the new APACC Accreditation Manual. During the open forum, the CIAST representatives expressed their keen interest to undergo reaccreditation and possibly to join the roster of accreditors in the future. Dr. Dhameja voiced his support for this initiative, and encouraged them to also participate in CPSC’s international webinars and training programs as resource speakers.

The program ended with the exchange of tokens of appreciation which symbolizes the revitalization of the partnership between two like-minded institutions, bound by their mutual commitment to advancing quality assurance and excellence in TVET in the Asia-Pacific region.
