The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) conducted the international webinar titled “Empowering the Future Workforce through ESG in TVET” on June 30, 2025, via the Zoom platform. A total of 110 participants joined the webinar.
The webinar aimed to promote awareness on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and integrate the ESG principles into TVET systems. ESG is increasingly recognized as a vital component of modern workforce preparation, which helps in shaping professionals to be technically competent, socially responsible, and environmentally conscious.
The webinar consisted of two sessions, which were presented by Mr. Alexis Joseph, Operations Manager of AJ Consultancy and Sustainability Services, Malaysia, and Dr. Ajith Polwatte, PhD, Deputy Director General of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), Sri Lanka.
In their sessions, Mr. Joseph and Dr. Polwatte emphasized the importance of integrating ESG competencies into TVET to prepare learners for green and responsible industries. Mr. Joseph focused on practical strategies for applying ESG in workplace training and improving employability, while Dr. Polwatte highlighted Sri Lanka’s national efforts and the role of governance, inclusivity, and sustainability in building a future-ready workforce.
The webinar was concluded with a question-and-answer (Q&A) session, which was moderated by Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen, CPSC Faculty Consultant, who guided the exchange of insights from both speakers and participants.
