The celebrations will officially commence at the Red Fort in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will receive the Guard of Honour from the Armed Forces and the Delhi Police. This will be followed by the unfurling of the tricolour, accompanied by the playing of the National Anthem, and a 21-gun salute.

Prime Minister Modi will then deliver his Independence Day address, in which he will report the achievements of India over the past year and the government’s priorities for the future. After his speech, the National Anthem will be played once more, and the ceremony will conclude with the release of tri-coloured balloons into the sky.

Involvement of youth in Independence Day through school activities

Although no official theme has been announced for 2025, recent Independence Day celebrations focused on unity, patriotism, social progress, and the contributions of India’s freedom fighters. Likewise, the Ministry of Defence and the Government of India have launched the nationwide campaign “Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future”, which aims to promote patriotism and national unity, especially among the youth, through a series of creative and engaging activities.

State capitals, government offices, schools, and local communities across India will commemorate the day with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and patriotic programs. Schools will hold stage plays, exhibitions, and interactive activities to help the youth learn about India’s history of independence.

As the tricolor waves across India and the National Anthem echoes through the land, the spirit of independence, unity, and progress radiates among its people—honoring the sacrifices of the forefathers and leading the path toward a brighter future.

Jai Hind!
