The Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) successfully convened TVET education for the 9th World Conference on TVET (WoCTVET) together with the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) as one of the partners for the event. The conference was held from October 14 to 16, 2024, with online sessions and face-to-face sessions at the UTHM campus in Johor, Malaysia. Sessions centered on this year’s theme “Sustainable Social and Economic Development through TVET.”

The conference commenced on October 15, 2024. UTHM Vice Chancellor YB Prof. Dato' Ir. Ts. Dr. Ruzairi bin Abdul Rahim delivered his welcome remarks followed by keynote sessions from esteemed guests such as Mr. Friedrich Huebler from UNESCO-UNEVOC; Mr. J. Manuel Galvin Arribas from European Training Foundation; Prof. Emeritus Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Wahid Bin Razzaly from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM); and Prof. Yang Wenming from UNEVOC Centre Shenzhen Polytechnic University.

Prior to this, four workshops were conducted on October 14, which were facilitated by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas Schröder, Dato’ Palaniapan Joseph, and Dr. Nur Sofurah Mohd Faiz, including the CPSC Director General, Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja.

Furthermore, the parallel sessions convened researchers and educators from various institutions which were held on October 15 via face-to-face, and on October 16 via online. These sessions centered on the following themes: (1) Educational Technology & Innovation; (2) Professional Development & Career; (3) Environmental Sustainability; (4) Assessment & Evaluation; and (5) Social Issues in Education.
