COLLABORATING ORGANIZATIONS: Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMPF) and Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMP Tech) |
PARTICIPANTS' PROFILE: The participants of this Regional Program are composed of TVET Automotive Teachers/Instructors/Trainers from government institutions in CPSC Member Countries. |
Due to the increasingly complex nature of the technology that is now incorporated into automobiles, most automobile dealerships and independent workshops now provide sophisticated diagnostic computers to each technician, without which they would be unable to diagnose or repair a vehicle.
TVET institutions that are providing auto mechanics training in Asia and the Pacific region are either lacking such kinds of modern technologies or are not fully capable of using the technologies and teaching the training participants. Due to this reason, CPSC found a gap in the teaching and learning process which may reduce the employability opportunities of the TVET graduates.
It is highly expected that this collaborative training program with Toyota Motor Philippines will close the gap mentioned above. It will also strengthen training management systems in TVET institutions in Asia and the Pacific region especially in the automotive area.
The challenges we face at present are concerned with making the TVET system more need-based and effective, and more dynamic and responsive to the changes taking place in the industrial scenario. The technological changes happening in the world force TVET institutions to strive for excellence. They should be globally competitive in order to produce graduates who can compete in the international arena.
CPSC in partnership with the Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMP Tech) has identified this technical training that would help make TVET in member countries more relevant to the changing times. Getting trained by Toyota Motor and applying the learning to the member countries of CPSC could be rewarding and gives high hopes to enhance the employability of the TVET graduates.
This program is intended to strengthen their capability in the field of Automobile Servicing in a higher level of competency covering diesel and gasoline engine management, diagnosis and repair of electronically controlled and continuously variable transmission, and basic function and operation of hybrid systems.
This practical technical training program is aimed to impart modern technological knowledge and skills to the participants with the rapid advancement in Automotive Technology that would cover automobile electronic and electrical technology, computer and electronic systems.
At the end of the program, the participants will be able to:
- Identify the functions, construction, and operation of the Electronic Control Diesel and Gasoline Engine, Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT), Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT), and Hybrid Systems.
- Determine appropriate diagnostic equipment for engine and transmission diagnosis.
- Perform procedures in diagnosis and repair of ECT and CVT, and
- Determine the basic operation and components of Toyota Hybrid Systems.
The expected outcomes of this practical training on Automotive Technology are:
- Improvement in competency of TVET Automotive Teachers/Instructors in teaching advanced automotive maintenance and management in their institutions.
The expected outputs of the program are:
- Trained TVET Automotive Teachers/Instructors. About 25 participants improved their competencies in automotive technology.
A spiral learning approach will be used to deliver the program, starting by conducting a tour of facilities, orientation and safety protocol.
The main topics of the program are:
- Diesel and Gasoline Engine Management
- Diagnose and Repair of Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT)
- Diagnose and Repair of Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
- Toyota Hybrid System
To facilitate productive and interactive learning, the following instructional strategies will be utilized to effectively train the participants:
- Workshop and discussion
- Practical technical training
- Program Evaluation through OnCOURSE/ TMP Tech system
